The Future of Energy
Renewable energy is the future; wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric. These green sources of power need efficient batteries and smart grids to make the most of them — and scientists are working tirelessly to bring us the innovations driving the future of energy.
Our global energy system is far from fully sustainable, but as energy demands grow and traditional energy sources continue to threaten the environment, we’re reconsidering the role of renewable energy. Carbon Brief reports that for the first time in 100 years, coal provided zero power for the UK during several days in May 2016. The same report notes that from April to September, 5.4 per cent of UK’s electricity demand was generated from solar energy, while coal provided only 4.7 per cent. This is a great example of how renewables are securing themselves as the future of energy. There’s never been a more exciting time to explore the future of energy. Intrigued?
